The town is also known as the ‘Gem of the Karoo’, as it has more national monuments than any other town in South Africa.  Once booked in you can do a guided walk (or drive) to various places of interest. In the late afternoon visit the ‘Valley of Desolation’ where you look from a safe view point over the awe-inspiring, gigantic Karoo Basin.  This has an encircling Mountain Range in the far distance – where about 250 million years ago Dinosaurs roamed.  Share a magnificent sunset.

Day 2:  Start the day with breakfast and then take a ride to Nieu Bethesda to visit to the curious ‘Owl House’ . Take part in a ‘Fossil Tour’ where you can observe the 300 million year old Fossils still embedded in the Sandstone.  Light lunch then travel to a local farm to view the only private Fossil Exhibition in South Africa.  Visit a Bushman Cave complete with San Drawings. Continue to the Mountain Zebra National Park in Cradock, where you will be able to see some of the 250+ Zebras and other animals.  After dinner watch the magnificent South African night sky with its shooting stars visible on a clear Karoo night.
